Helping out at Macritchie in field studies

Had helping out Miguel in his research. After 3 days of rain, the sun finally showed his face for a while! But it started raining after about 20mins upon arrival! But we still managed to do something out of the trip. Wanted to take a photo of the orange-bellied flowerpecker (Dicaeum trigonostigma) but din managed to even though there are quite a number of them around the field site. But I got some interesting photos~

Nymphs of shield bug (Pycanum rubens) Looks like a leaf, salmon.... The adult is actually a lot larger than the nymphs. Found on the underside of the leaves of Simpoh air (Dillenia suffruticosa). More information can be found here.
Then on our way back, Dhava spotted a large yellow bird perching on a tree at the edge of the water body. It's the stork-billed kingfisher (Halcyon capensis). This kingfisher is the largest found in Singapore and is rarely spotted due to its shy nature. More information can be found here.
